What Can I Do With A Major In Hospitality & Tourism?
The hospitality and tourism major prepares students for an exciting, challenging and satisfying career in one of the largest, most important industries in our global economy. The hospitality and tourism industry is one of the oldest industries in the world--serving people traveling away from home for any variety of reasons and is the main source of income for many countries
A major in hospitality and tourism leads to endless possibilities for travel, adventure, advancement, and networking opportunities. The program is a multidisciplinary field of study with the purpose of preparing people with the expertise, commitment, and skills for management, marketing, and operations positions in the expanding industry that provides food, accommodations, and tourism services to people away from home. As a field of study, hospitality and tourism is interdisciplinary, incorporating courses in economics, geography, marketing and management in addition to tourism and hospitality studies. It draws upon such a wide range of basic disciplines to provide the fundamental knowledge and skills that are required to fulfill the numerous demands placed upon individuals in diverse positions within the hospitality industry.
