Management
What Can I Do With A Major In Management?
Management is the organizational process that includes strategic planning, setting objectives, managing resources, deploying the human and financial assets needed to achieve objectives, and measuring results. Individuals also oversee the work of others by building cooperation and performance among workers. At CCSU, management majors can specialize in a functional area such as entrepreneurship or human resources, and their work may involve skills in analyzing problems, making decisions, delegating assignments, training and supervising staff, budgeting and coordinating activities.
Many people enter management positions with a bachelor's degree. However, a master's degree in business administration is essential in some areas for advancement. Regardless of the career choice, management majors can increase their marketability through experiential learning in the form of internships, cooperative education, and college activities.
The Management Department at CCSU prepares students for the managerial dimensions of roles they will play in their careers in business, government and non-profit organizations, as well as graduate study. The program provides a basic foundation in management theory and practices.
