Exercise Science & Health Promotion
What Can I Do With A Major In Exercise Science & Health Promotion?
Exercise science and health promotion is the study of the effects of exercise and physical activity on people in order to optimize their physical and mental health. Exercise science majors study the science of human movement. They also learn how to help people live healthier lives through exercise, rehabilitation, and nutrition.
The exercise science program promotes and integrates scientific research, education, and practical applications of exercise science to maintain and enhance health, fitness, performance, and quality of life. Although exercise science graduates will often be found working in sports medicine facilities, the field of exercise science is rather broad. Depending upon the area of interest, an exercise science major might study how to develop and lead exercise programs for specific populations; how organ systems work; or how to improve biomechanical efficiency in tasks of everyday living.
