* corolla transparent, so nectar can be seen through corolla wall

** Leiva 2345 = Mione 650, looks like J. sinuosa morphologically, but in the Miller et al. phylogeny this accession, "J. libertadii" unpublished, did not group with other collections of J. sinuosa.

Lobules
- lobules, when present, alternate with corolla lobes. In the photos above lobules are clearly evident in J. nigricolor. To check for the presence or absence of lobules flowers that were stored in 70% ethanol (when collected), and photos of flowers, were used.

"tablachaca" includes the type specimen of Hebecladus weberbaueri Bitter (not H. weberbaueri Dammer)

The first species in the table (J. calliantha) differs from all others in the department by having herbaceous above-ground parts, pale-green mature fruits, a style tapering to a point (proximal to distal), and a corona (this holds the nectar around the ovary). This species is visited by hummingbirds.

The following species distribution map was made by and generously provided by Samantha Serazo, 2011. In the legend of the following map: 1) "J. tablachaca" is now known as J. angasmarcae, 2) J. calliantha should no longer be in quotes because the name has been published, 3) Mione regards J. grandibaccata and J. guillermo-guerrae to be conspecific.
