1. Announcements:
           a. AAUP: President M. Gendron made the following announcements:
·        He will not be running for office in 2009;
·        Meeting with SEBAC on 3/25/09 at 4pm;
·        CCSU AAUP nominations close on 3/14/09;
·        Lobby Day 3/18/09;
·        Family Day with the Rock Cats on 5/3/09.
          b. SUOAF-AFSCME: Senator Bonvicini: no report at this time.
           c. President of the Senate: President Barrington announced the following:
           d. Elections Committee: Senator Glagovich reminded the Senate that spring elections would be underway soon and to encourage faculty colleagues to serve on committees.
           e. President of the University: President Miller addressed the Senate with an update on current state budget issues. Exact amounts of cuts are not yet available because there is a wide range being discussed at the state level. There are many unknowns remaining such as, student enrollment, wages and collective bargaining, utilities etc. Currently Confidential Management’s salaries are frozen and positions have been ordered to be reduced by 10%. President Miller referred Senators to the UPBC website to view prioritized possible reductions.

2. Minutes: Senator Reagan moved to approve the Minutes from the meeting of February 23, 2009. (Passed)

3. Reports:
           a. CCSU Child Care: L. Glaser and B. Merenstein presented a report relating to child care needs and options for members of the University community. Possibilities include development of a website for connections between faculty and staff to address child care needs, connections with the University counseling center and working with AAUP to provide information on FMLA. Questions were addressed from members of the Senate. Â
             b. CIE, Internationalization Laboratory: N. Wagner and T. Reagan addressed the Senate concerning the CCSU Internalization Laboratory as part of the American Council on Education (ACE) Internationalization Collaborative. Surveys will be distributed soon to faculty concerning international connections of current and future courses.
             c. Curriculum Committee: Senator Karpuk presented the report of the Committee from 3/4/09 and reviewed changes approved by the Committee. Senator Spector moved to separate “item D.” from the motion to approve to be discussed separately. Motion (Passed). The Curriculum Committee Report from 3/4/09 was (Passed). A discussion of “item D” ensued concerning the benefits and detriments of moving to an on-line only catalog. The questions was called, (Passed). The motion to accept “item D” (Passed).

4. Unfinished Business: Senator Spector presented a proposed amendment by substitution resolution concerning shared governance. Both the proposal and resolution (Passed).

5. New Business:
            a. Update: Ad Hoc Committee Center for Student Success: Senator Mulrooney updated the Senate on the progress of the Committee. Senator Bonvicini stated the SUOAF-AFSCME has contract concerns about the proposed process. Senators expressed concerns about the process and data. Provost Lovitt reiterated his commitment to collaboration in this process.
