2. Announcements:
a. AAUP President (L. Williams)
- Faculty members are invited to attend “Recovering Hartford’s Hidden Past: People of Color in Hartford’s Ancient Burying Ground, 1640-1815,” on Wednesday, November 13, in the Constitution Room. The Meet and Greet will be at 5pm, and Dr. Kathy Hermes's lecture will begin at at 6pm.
b. SUOAF-AFSCME President (L. Bigelow)
- The Chapter meeting will be on December 12, at 12noon, in Alumni Hall.
c. SGA (R. Tahir)
- No announcements.
d. FAC to the Board of Regents (S. Adair)
- The elections of FAC representatives have now been completed throughout the CSCU system. All current and new members are invited to the meeting of the FAC on Friday, November 8, at 1pm.
- There was some discussion of the common calendar (which is actually not a common calendar, since there are small differences between the community colleges' and ours), and its impact on whether or not we could have a Fall break.
e. President of the Senate (M. Jackson)
- Faculty are invited to the Presidential Open Forum on Tuesday, October 22 (with Presidents Toro and Jackson).
- The Strategic Plan is still in the works; the UPBC is in the process of discussing it. The hope is to have an open forum on the plan around November 19. We hope to have it approved by January and sent to the BOR by February.
- The plan is to have five goals, but their exact wording is still being worked on.
3. Committee Reports
a. Curriculum Committee (B. Merenstein)
- Motion (Blitz/Best): To divide the question, in order to consider the CHEM 200/260/354 prerequisite proposal separately from the rest of the report.
- Motion approved (1 senator opposed)
- Motion (Blitz/Austad): To return the CHEM 200/260/354 prerequisite proposal to the curriculum committee.
- Motion approved (1 senator opposed)
- Remainder of the Curriculum Committee report approved unanimously
b. Ad Hoc Committee on Campus Safety
- Update, including Campus Safety Exercises (Police Sergeant Erwin, Fire Lieutenant Ferrarotti)
- Cassandra York and Jason Sikorski were thanked for their amazing work on this issue.
- There will be several fire drills on campus starting on November 6. Senator Hughes asked whether or not there is a meeting point for fire drills or evacuations. Answer: No, simply go at least 100 feet from the building.
- There will be a Shelter in Place drill in Bassett Hall on November 5.
- Faculty are encouraged to download the LiveSafe app on their phones. It can be used, among other things, to send anonymous messages to the CCSU Police.
- Faculty members are encouraged to give feedback to CCSU Police on whether or not various safety training programs are useful, and to provide feedback to the Committee on Campus Safety on the new posters.

a. DEC Exception: Ralph Cohen (Counselor Education & Family Therapy) will serve on the DEC for the AAUP Counselors in Student Wellness Services.
