1. Motion to approve Minutes of November 7, 2005 - (Murphy): passed

2. Announcements:
President Craine (Senate): Senate Steering Committee decided to request reports from Committees for the next meeting (November 28). The final meeting on December 12 will be in Vance 105 at 1 pm with only Curriculum and Graduate Studies Committee reports. If senators have an examination at 2 pm, they should consider getting someone to help proctor their exams if the meeting runs bewond 2 pm.
President Craine invited Provost Whitford to give the Senate a status report on the Chancellor search.
She indicated that there are four representatives from CCSU on the Search Committee, including one student, the Provost and two faculty members (Kristine Larsen and Evelyn Newman-Phillips). A regular update of the process is posted on the CSU web site. Applications for the position have been reviewed since November 4. Out of the strong original pool of 40 candidates, 12 have been recommended for airport interviews to the Board of Trustees. Between December 6 and 9, a schedule of campus visits to CCSU will be organized including open forums. A recommendation will be made to the BOT on December 16 and the latter will make the final choice by January 27.

b. President White (CCSU-AAUP) urged senators to cast their vote on the proposed AAUP dues increase. The votes will be counted at 12 noon on November 18 with Sen. Barrington representing President White to oversee the counting process.

a. Special Election to the Appointments & Personnel Committee (Barrington)
Nominations were solicited from the floor to replace Sen. Gendron's term for 2005-06.
Sen. Hernandez nominated himself. Sen. Abadiano moved to close nominations. Passed.

Dean Roth indicated that currently about 60% of students who want to enroll in FYE courses can be accomodated. FYSÂ (seminars) will offer opportunities to develop topics not part of the general curriculum (like Politics and Science, Business and Society). Additional 27 sections of FYE required. All FYS courses will have to be approved by the General Education subcommittee
Questions were raised on availability of faculty. President Miller's request for at least five additional faculty in Arts and Sciences was mentioned.
