- School of Business reorganization plan - resolution submitted by the school for senate endorsement, via President Aebersold
Sen. Judith Walo (Chair, Accounting) provided a detailed background and context to the request from the Dean, School of Business, for the reorganization plan. The primary impetus is accreditation. Several senators had comments on the plan and raised questions, such as:
- What are the concerns of School of Business faculty who did not support the reorganization plan?
- What criteria will be used to determine the "2-track" teaching appointments?
- The reorganization structure seems "top-down".
- What are the implications of the reorganization for the rest of the University?
- Will Department chairs in the School of Business be required to teach/interact with students in the classroom?
- Will release time to Chairs violate BOT-AAUP, CSU contract?
- Will the faculty evaluation criteria violate BOT-AAUP, CSU contract?
Senators felt that the proposal should be discussed with the University Planning and Budget Committee (UPBC) and Connecticut State University-American Association of University Professors (CSU-AAUP), to get clarification on questions related resource allocation, contractual issues, workload issues.
Motion made by Sen. Austad, with amendements offered by Sen. Moran and Sen.
