Minutes—October 18, 2004

- Announcements
President Craine -
- Reminded senators and guests to sign-in on the sheet (before leaving) to indicate their attendance
- Stated that the CVs of the candidates for CCSU
President coming in November and their schedules for campus
visits have been circulated to all faculty. The faculty meeting with
each candidate is scheduled for 1.15 pm in Founder's Hall on the day they
come to campus. He urged senators to attend if possible and
encourage colleagues in their respective departments to do the
same.
The University Search Committee and the Senate Steering Committee welcomed comments from faculty on the candidates.
[Several senators stated their views on faculty participation in the search process. There was also a request to consider recording the faculty meeting with the candidates if possible. This would allow faculty who could not attend to see/hear the candidates and provide feedback] - Stated that the Consitution/Bylaws Committee of the Senate would be sending a note to all faculty soliciting input and suggestions on revisions.
- Stated that the Diversity Committee of the Senate would be meeting on November 3 to consider implementation of the report from last semester
- Mentioned that the Senate Steering Committee would reconisder
the dates of the Senate meetings for Spring 2005 as two of the scheduled
meetings fall on vacation days

- Academics Standards resolution (Warshauer/Osterreich)
" In order to conform with Hartford Consortium practices among Member Institutions, of which CCSU is one, all courses taken at Consortium Member institutions will be given full credit, including GPA calculations, in CCSU transcripts and will for all intents and purposes be considered a CCSU course."
Sen. Warshauer clarified that students pay tuition at their home institutions. He would also check with the Registrar whether consortium courses are counted in the home institution load and whether there are potential problems with too many credits.
Motion passed with 2 abstentions
b. DEC Request from President Aebersold (Leake/Crundwell)
" In accordance with Article 4.11.4 of the AAUP/BOT contract, I request Faculty Senate approval of the following exception for Department Evaluation Committees for the 2004-05 academic year:
Department of Management Information Systems:
Dr. Karen Tracey (Computer Electronics/Graphics Technology) will serve as a
member of this department's DEC during certain deliberations "
