- Update on recent items considered by the Integrated Planning Council (IPC)
- President Jackson outlined the history of the IPC and its purpose. Among other things, the IPC's goal is to establish a paperwork trail for planning decisions made by the administration in consultation with faculty and other entities on campus. Beacuse of high turnover among administrators, this has not always been easy to do before the creation of the IPC, especially for long-term projects such as the creation of brand new programs.
- Some faculty members are still unclear about what kind of proposals require IPC approval.
- Update on Strategic Plan Steering Committee
- President Toro announced the creation of the Strategic Plan Steering Committee on October 10. This committee will draft a framework that will be reviewed by the UPBC, for eventual submission to the IPC.
- An outside consulting group will help in the creation of the Strategic Plan; however, this will not cost any extra money because the consulting group already had an unexpired contract with the university.
- Some faculty members are skeptical of outside consulting groups in general.
