   1.     Announcements:
a.    AAUP: President Gendron announced that the Faculty Social is scheduled for 12/9/08 in the Connecticut Room from 4-7 pm.
b.   SUOAF-AFSCME: Senator Bonvicini announced that steward training is scheduled for January 2009 and that on November 19, 2008 Merit Awards winners will be announced in Founders Hall.
c.    President of the Senate: President Barrington announced the following:
·        Encourage the membership to participate in the Employee Satisfaction Survey that is currently underway.
·        Asked the Senate to identify and recommend student members to serve on University Committees.
·        Reminder of the 2009 Trustee Award in Teaching and Research and encourage nominations.
·        The Conversation with President Miller on October 29, 2008 was well attended and there are two more meetings in the planning process for the spring.
2.    Minutes:Senator Spector moved the approval of the October 27, 2008 minutes. (Passed)

3. Â Â Â Reports:
       a. Senator Blitz updated the Senate on the status of the University Planning and Budget Committee            activities. Members were encouraged to visit the website for updates on the strategic    plan, missions and vision statements. http://bertie.ccsu.edu/upbc/login/index.php

       The Committee has met with President Miller and recommendations for changes from year to  year will be available next month. Questions and discussion followed.
       b. Curriculum Committee, Senator Karpuk reviewed changes and additions in the report.
       Senator Crundwell moved to separate III. Unfinished Business, part B. relating to review of General Education, from consideration with the report, to be taken up at a later time after clarification. Motion (Passed).
Senator Crundwell moved to approve the remainder of the report. (Passed).
       Senator Karpuk announced that the delete list of inactive courses has been sent out and will  require department review.
       c. Academic Standards, Senator Mulrooney reviewed matters that have come before the   committee. Minor corrections were approved in the report. A discussion of impact of raised GPA  requirements on students and the University community ensued.
       Senator Spector moved to divide the Prerequisite change for Math 119 to be considered  separately. (Passed).
Senator Delventhal moved to approve the Math 119 change. (Passed).
       After a discussion that clarified concerns, Senator Cummiskey moved to approve the recommend
       changes to the Exercise Science Professional program changes. (Passed).

4. Â Â Â Unfinished Business:
 President Barrington discussed the need to appointment a committee for the Development of    Recommendations for Promotion and Tenure Policy for Librarians, Coaches and Counselors. The list should be finalized for the 11/24/08 meeting.

5.    New Business:
 The Faculty Handbook is significantly out of date. The Steering Committee is currently reviewing the last version from 1995. It is anticipated that proposed revisions will be posted over the      semester break to the Senate website.
