  1.   Announcements
    1. AAUP member Guy Crundwell announced a series of events, including Tuesday’s reception for state senator Don Williams, the upcoming forum on student assessment and shared governance, and CCSU-AAUP elections
    2. SUOF-AFSCME President Fred Bonvicini reminded senators of the march 5 CSU Lobby day.  He reported the ongoing work on a side letter regarding evaluation, and union steward training.
    3. Senate President Tim Craine thanked the Senate steering committee for assistance in navigating a decision about agenda issues.  He also took an announcement from the floor, by Senator Fallahi, about the Thursday diversity workshop led by Frances Kendall.

  1. Senator Murphy moved the approval of the February 11, 2008 minutes: Passed.

 

3.  New Business: a) Senator Frank described the elections timetable and process for Faculty Standing committees as well as Senate officers.

           b) Senator Duquette reported that the Academic Freedom committee sees no obstacle to circulating the statement on civility on the list serve drafted by a group of concerned campus women, and that the statement is not a statement of policy or a mandate.

            c) Senator Cohen moved the acceptance of the Committee on Committee’s report concerning the library committee’s by-laws: Approved.

            d) Provost Lovitt gave an interim report on the work of the Retention and Graduation Council, which was convened April 2007 and comprises wide representation from across campus life.  The council meets monthly and its members have created subcommittees based on the different groups of students CCSU serves.  Provost Lovitt gave examples of recommendations and actions emerging from the Council’s ongoing work, which are available on the Council’s website: www.ccsu.edu/gradreten, and closed by taking questions
