Chair of the Diversity Committee, Carolyn Fallahi, spoke about gender inequity in higher education that the committee would like to investigate as it pertains to CCSU. She mentioned a AAUP report on the economic status of the professorate for 2004-05 that provided dismaying statistics insofar as discrimination against women in teaching. The statistics for CCSU warranted a "closer look" she said, as it pertained to appointments and salaries. AAUP at CCSU is interested in working with the Committee in this task and in ways to combat gender inequity at the hiring, tenure and promotion levels. She solicited input from all faculty on campus on this issue.
