Announcements, 11 May 2009
It feels good to be wrapping up the academic year
with our final Senate meeting.
Update:
We’re getting closer to collecting P&T Guidelines
from every department on campus. And all that have submitted a policy
have had their policies reviewed by AAUP and Human Resources. Any
concerns have been conveyed back to the departments, and we’re receiving
revisions. Over the summer, we’ll be posting the Departmental Guidelines
to the Senate website.
2.
As you know, one of the Senate’s central concerns in the recent
past has been developing and clarifying the processes of shared
governance, especially consultation between the Senate and
administration. We’ve made some headway this year. I will continue to
make it a central concern next year. If you have any ideas about ways
to improve these processes, please drop me a note.
3.
This has been a very busy year for the Senate. I’ve enjoyed the
opportunity to serve as president. The work and decision-making process
has been greatly lessened by the efforts of many wonderful colleagues
whom I’d like to quickly recognize.
