2025 Year in Review: Generosity in Action
As we look back on 2025, one theme stands out clearly: the extraordinary impact of our alumni and friends. Your generosity fueled opportunity, opened doors, and strengthened Central’s mission to empower students and serve our communities.
In the 2025 calendar year, Central received $3.24 million in philanthropic donations, a powerful vote of confidence in our students, faculty, and future. These gifts are translated directly into student success. Scholarships awarded during the year totaled $2.8 million, easing financial burdens and helping students stay enrolled, graduate on time, and pursue their goals with confidence.
Your support also helped Central celebrate significant academic achievement. During the academic year ending in May 2025, the university awarded:
-
1,571 baccalaureate degrees
-
465 master’s degrees
-
51 doctorate degrees
-
232 official certificates
Beyond the classroom, philanthropy made a meaningful difference in lives across campus and throughout Connecticut. Donor support strengthened programs such as Maria’s Place Food Pantry, which saw a record number of visits this year as it responded to rising food insecurity among students. It powered Go Baby Go!, a program within our Technology and Engineering Education Program that transforms ride-on toy cars into life-changing mobility devices for children with disabilities. Gifts also sustained the Literacy Center, providing after-school reading assessment and tutoring for children in local school districts, and enabled Nursing students to deliver health screening clinics in rural communities across the state.
These examples represent just a few of the many ways philanthropy touches Central every day. Together, your generosity advances academic excellence, expands access, and ensures that Central continues to change lives—on campus and beyond. Thank you for making 2025 a year of lasting impact.

Help us welcome the Institutional Advancement Team’s newest member, Julie Rancourt!
Julie brings more than 25 years of experience in communications to Central. She built her career largely in nonprofit communications, including freelance reporting and managing annual reports, newsletters, and social media. Most recently, Julie worked with the Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies, a coalition of 11 nonprofit organizations. Over time, her passion for storytelling and interviewing naturally evolved into a focus on grant writing, allowing her to combine strong writing skills with her interest in highlighting meaningful, mission-driven work.

At Central, Julie supports the university’s mission through grant development and securing funding for programs that make a meaningful impact across campus. She is especially passionate about initiatives that take an upstream, preventative approach to addressing challenges before they become crises. Julie is energized by opportunities to support programs such as Circle of Care and enjoys learning about innovative efforts that create lasting change. Outside of work, Julie is an avid reader, runner, and writer. She recently completed an impressive personal goal—running a road race in every town in Connecticut—a journey that took eight years and concluded on November 1, 2025, in Middlefield, CT earning her “royalty” status in the Run 169 Society.
The Institutional Advancement team is thrilled to welcome Julie and looks forward to all she brings to the Central community.
